Matthew brings a wealth of experience leading listed companies with a particular emphasis on technology. Prior to joining Domestic & General, Matthew was Group Chief Executive Officer of GoCo Group, a data-enabled and tech-led business focused on innovation. Prior to this, Matthew was Deputy CEO of lastminute.com Group and has also worked in leadership roles at Expedia, Nestle, and Procter & Gamble.


Matthew is the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of National Express PLC and is a Non-Executive Director & Adviser of Kidadl, and a Board Member of Aston University Advancement Board.

Joe joined the Domestic & General graduate scheme in November 1998 and has worked in a variety of roles across the business. He was appointed Underwriting Director in 2007 and has led Group Strategy and our Commercial functions covering the Underwriting, Commercial, Analytics & Data Science teams. After a period of leading Finance on an interim basis, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer in October 2021. Joe is CIMA qualified and an associate of the Society of Actuaries.

Steve was appointed a director of the Company in February 2017. Steve joined Domestic & General seven years ago, previously holding Marketing Director and subsequently the Sales & Marketing Director roles. Steve has worked in the industry for over 15 years and previously held senior sales roles with both Homeserve and Allianz Insurance.

Nick is the Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for leading Operations, HR and Communications. Nick joined D&G in December 2016 as Group HR Director taking on wider responsibility for Operations in August 2018. Prior to joining the business, Nick spent 8 years at HSBC most latterly in the role of Head of HR for HSBC, UK. Nick is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds a BA (Hons) degree in Personnel Management from the University of Greenwich

Gayle Terry is the Chief Marketing Officer for Domestic & General with responsibility for creating and delivering the customer and marketing strategy. Gayle joined the business in 2014, where she previously held a number of senior positions, including the Marketing Director role.

Prior to joining the business, Gayle worked in several leadership roles at British Gas, where she led teams across several functional areas including Marketing, Commercial, Operational Management and Business Transformation.

Gayle has an MA in Economics from the University of Glasgow.

Mark is the International Director with responsibility for leading our International businesses across Europe, Australia and new territory launches. Mark joined Domestic & General in April 2012 and progressed through a number of sales and marketing roles before taking on wider responsibility for the International business in March 2017.

Prior to joining D&G, Mark held senior roles at HomeServe and Indesit Company, as well as various other roles in the automotive industry.

Mark holds an MBA in Business from the University of Nottingham and a BA Honours degree from Queen Mary University of London.

Phil joined D&G in July 2020 to lead the Technology and Change functions. He was previously the Group CIO at Virgin Active. Phil’s experience covers all aspects of building and running large-scale technology platforms and teams. His previous roles include senior leadership positions at both Sainsbury and Royal Mail. Prior to that Phil spent the early part of his career working in the digital agency world building the first generation of digital services for clients in London and San Francisco.

Al is a seasoned transformation leader with over 20 years’ experience across multiple sectors. Al joined the Company in November 2021 and has previously held senior transformation and change programme delivery positions at Future Publishing Limited, GoCompare.com, EY and lastminute.com.
